The Enterprise Challenges
Each project runs for 1 week (in school holidays), and during the week the participants will work in teams where a number of local trades people and entrepreneurs will teach them some of their “saleable” trade skills (eg arts, crafts, up-cycling, clothes design, food produce etc). The teams will then apply those skills by producing goods that will be sold during an enterprise fundraising challenge that simulates setting up their own business.
The projects are designed to be hands on and varied, enabling the participants to experience a range of different business vocations so that they can see what they enjoy and thrive at, enabling them to make more informed choices about later work experience, further training choices, or even starting their own business for real! At the same time, they will also be learning a variety of enterprise skills such as team-working, marketing, customer service and financial management that will develop their confidence, capabilities, and employability prospects. |

August Challenges
The first challenges ran in August ‘17, and involved the participants making a range of printed goods (T Shirts, bags, wall plaques, mobile phone covers etc) that were pitched to local retailers to see if they would buy the produce to sell in their stores. The teams did everything from interviewing the retailer to find out what they like to sell, researching the market to find out what trends are popular, working out what prices they sell for and what margins need to be made, putting together their own designs for the goods, watching the designs get made into sample goods, and then pitching the sample goods to the retailers at the end of the week.

And participation in the project is entirely FREE of charge! |
