Our Business Model We believe that if we are encouraging young people to make sustainable choices, we should be doing the same in the way that we run our organisation, which is why our ambition is to become financially self-sustainable through social enterprise trading income rather than ongoing charitable funding grants.
We are in the process of securing funding so that we can launch the project full time, but in the mean time you can support us by volunteering. |
Our VisionThe Platform Project is a new youth development social enterprise that launched in Swindon in August 2017.
The scheme is aimed at helping young people aged 14-19 develop their employability skills, confidence and opportunities through a number of enterprise challenges similar to “The Junior Apprentice” TV show. We fundamentally believe that if people are provided with the right support and opportunity, there is no limit to what they can achieve. However, not everybody fits into the standard pathways of traditional employment, education or training, so we help young people develop their skills and opportunities through learning how to start a business. Our ValuesOur project is founded on the principle that people can thrive when they are given the right platform; the platform to grow their skills, develop their confidence, and build supportive partnerships.
Which is why all of our enterprise challenges work alongside local traders, retailers, specialists and entrepreneurs to not only develop the capabilities of our participants, but also to develop their business, with our challenges being focused on things like helping local crafters market their goods, providing local retailers with niche produce, or helping new entrepreneurs start up their own enterprises. All of our challenges are designed to be win:win for everyone involved, and are founded in real life experiences, not classroom theory. CLICK HERE TO SEE HOW TO GET INVOLVED |
